Our school is a martial arts school focused on training in the art of Northern Shaolin and Tai Chi Praying Mantis Kung Fu. We are a form based system. What this means is, the movements we learn are all put together in pattern or form. We train these patterns or forms over and over until they become part of us. We consider this the best form of self-defense training because the movements become second nature and when a situation occurs, one doesn’t need to think about what they need to do, they just do it! We also practice self-discipline through awareness of our surroundings and respect by training and doing our best and being examples of those that are below us as students. Once you have been shown movements for a form, those movements are yours and you can ask and work with any student at your level and above with this material. You will find that the atmosphere is not the closed nature you may have experienced elsewhere. We have a very special school that wants to spread the knowledge of Shaolin and Praying Mantis Kung Fu and not keep it secret.

Values And Principles

To promote and advance both internal and external martial arts as a means for individuals to achieve self-betterment, self-discovery, and self-discipline via the Northern Shaolin and Northern Praying Mantis systems of Kung Fu.

To teach the art to anyone regardless of age, sex, race, color, religion, beliefs or nationality who is willing to learn and have no motives to defame and/or disrupt the class or use the art for unethical and/or illegal purposes.

To spread the teachings of the art via the most efficient and economic means, thereby reaching as many willing students as possible. To present the art in its most realistic form refraining from trickery, myths, deceptions, and supernatural claims.

To present the martial arts in all aspects. i.e., as a means for self-defense, sport, physical training, philosophy, entertainment, performance, science, health, healing, discipline, meditation, mental development, confidence building, sportsmanship, art, history, culture, etc.

To cultivate the martial arts as a vehicle for developing friendships, teamwork, communications and cooperation, and not as a means for dominance, suppression, control or undue influence over others. We discourage egotism and aggressive attitudes.

To produce students that appreciate and understand the martial arts and who practice and perform to the best of their abilities.

To develop successors through proper teaching, who will carry on the responsibility of continuing and expanding the missions, principles and most important of all, the philosophy and ethics of the art.

To continue the betterment of the martial arts taught at the School of Shaolin Kung Fu via the processes of actual practices and applications of the teachings leading to re-evaluation, discovery, and understanding of the arts.

Get fit – Have fun – Learn new skills

We make martial arts accessible to everyone no matter what level of fitness or physical ability.

Our courses incorporate all the key aspects of the martial arts but central to our curriculum are forms. Each form we teach is a composite of several self-defense techniques put into a sequence of movements. We also teach Chin Na (self-defense), Shuai Chaio, (Chinese wrestling), and San Shou (Free Sparring/Lei Tai).

We offer individual and family training programs for all ages and skill levels from the beginning student to those with many years of training in other systems. We also offer private and corporate lessons plus self defense courses.

The School of Shaolin Kung Fu works to promote social harmony by welcoming all people regardless of gender, marital status, disability, age, race, nationality, sexuality, religious beliefs, or political beliefs.

At The School of Shaolin Kung Fu we strive to provide world class training. Whether looking for weight control, fitness, flexibility, improved balance and coordination, self- defense, competition or just some fun in our friendly atmosphere, it is our goal to give our students the highest quality martial arts training possible.
